Humboltdians Initiative on Smart Energy- and Network Technologies (HISEN): Humboltdians on the way to Smart Energy World
Despite the significant energy savings potential, there are many barriers in the improvement of energy efficiency such as lack of resources, competences and commitment to implement a systematic energy saving initiative. The world needs sustainable, reliable, affordable energy, first of all electricity. The proposed networking initiative project Humboltdians Initiative on Smart Energy and Network Technologies (HISEN) is bringing together experts (former Humboltdians) from various sectors of the energy and ICT (information and communications technology) industries to discuss innovative solutions towards the advancement of smart energy. That is, how can we use ICT to bring about more efficient, cleaner, cheaper and safer energy Government officials, academics, business executives and NGO directors addressed problems of capital formation, public policy and technical applications that have been impeding the growth of smart energy networks for years. This challenge is an appropriate basis and reason for fellows and research award winners of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to solve and to strengthen the alumni networks in their respective countries and regions by creating the networking initiative devoted to smart technologies and energy efficiency problems.
This initiative is to allow the development of a cross-border network and conducting interdisciplinary research in the fields of modern smart technologies and energy efficiency.
Humboltdians from any country together with their colleagues from host universities in Germany can make an essential contribution to the solution of the problem using developed Knowledge Sharing Platform (KSP). The platform will allow to exchange of project ideas for creation of projects, to form a consortium for the project application and realization, etc. If you want to share your thoughts, HISEN is a place to do so. Inspirational comments can launch profound discussions and may promote events. You may also start your own discussion group and branch out into new topic.
